About
Honest feedback, seconds after you finish writing.
YourIELTSPrep is an independent study tool for IELTS candidates who need to know exactly what is holding their band down — and what to do about it.
Why we built it
Most IELTS candidates practise in the dark. You can find endless question banks, but almost nothing tells you why an answer is a 6.0 rather than a 7.0. Human feedback is excellent and scarce: a tutor costs money and usually takes days to return one essay.
We built YourIELTSPrep to close that gap. You sit an exam-style task under exam conditions, submit it, and get a criterion-by-criterion breakdown quoting your own sentences — in seconds, as often as you like.
How we approach scoring
- Every essay is assessed against the four public IELTS Writing criteria: task achievement or task response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy.
- We show the band descriptor we matched you to, the evidence from your text, and the reasoning — so you can disagree with us and learn from the disagreement.
- Deterministic statistics (word count, sentence variety, lexical diversity, passive voice) are calculated in code, not guessed by a model.
- Scores are estimates. They point you in a direction; they are not, and cannot be, an official IELTS result.
Where we are today
The AI Writing module — Academic and General Training, Task 1 and Task 2 — is live in beta. Speaking, Reading and Listening are in active development and will be released as they reach the same standard. We would rather ship one module properly than four badly.
Independence
YourIELTSPrep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Our practice material is original and modelled on the publicly available format and band descriptors of the exam.
